Who Are We?

A Church Becoming a Pillar of Grace

“...The church of the living God, a pillar and buttress of the truth” (1 Timothy 3:15 ESV).

Pillar of Grace Church began ministry in New Prague April 4, 1976. The ministry grew out of a home Bible study that began August of 1975 at the home of Ray & Ardy Johnson.

The church met at the city hall until June of 1977, then purchased the church building at 309 1st Ave NE, from Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. That church building was later sold to Queen of Peace Hospital. In 1995 the church moved to its present location, 830 4th Ave SW.

The church was first known as, “Living Praise Alliance”. The name was taken from the name of the church hymnal. In 1995 when the church was moved to its new location, the name was changed to New Prague Alliance.

The founding pastor was David Sohl. The current pastor is Chris Flores.

In April 2015, the church voted to change its name to Pillar of Grace Church.  The church wanted a name that would reflect the Lord's direction for us to be a church that celebrates God's grace towards us and to be a church that will increasingly proclaim the good news of the gospel of the grace of Jesus Christ to our community.
